Doctrine of Faith

The Holy Scriptures- We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God, given through direct guiding of the holy men of old by the Holy Spirit, and that these Scriptures are the final authority for faith and life. They are inerrant, infallible, God-breathed and complete in their revelation of God to man (II Timothy 3:16,17; Matthew 5:18; II Peter1: 20; John 16:12,13; Revelation 22:18,19).

The Trinity- We believe in one triune God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The trinity is co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections (Deuteronomy 6:4; II Corinthians 13:14).

The Birth of Christ- We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men (John 1:12,14; Luke 1:35).

The Deity of Christ- We believe that Jesus Christ was both God the Son and the son of God. We believe that Jesus Christ was God almighty in the flesh come to save sinners (John 1:1; John 10:30; John 14:9).

The Death of Christ- We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through the shedding of His Blood on the cross of Calvary and His subsequent death; that his death was a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and our justification before God is made certain by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead (Romans 3:24-25; I Peter 1:1-19, 2:24; Ephesians 1:7).

The resurrection of Christ- We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where, as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of the Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate (Acts 1:9-10; Hebrews 9:24; Romans 8:34; I John 2:1,2).

The Creation- We believe in the Genesis account of a full six-day creation. We believe that God created man from the dust of the ground and that God created woman from man’s rib. We believe that God has given man dominion over the earth and the animals on the earth (Genesis 1:1-31; 2:7, 21-23).

The Fall of Man- We believe that man was created by God in the image and likeness of God, perfect and complete, yet innocent; but in Adam’s sin of disobedience to God’s specific command, the race of man fell, inherited a sinful nature and became alienated from God; and mankind is totally depraved and of himself utterly unable to remedy his lost condition and separation from God (Genesis 1:26-27; Ephesians 2:1-3,12; Romans 3:22-23, 5:12).

The Salvation of man- We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by the grace of God and received by personal repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His complete work at Calvary. That is, the shedding of His precious blood for the forgiveness of our sins (Ephesians 1:7; 2:8-9; John 1:12; I Peter 1:5).

The Eternal Security of Believers- We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever (John 6:37-38; Romans 8:15, 38,39; I Corinthians 1:4-8; I Peter 1:5).

The Place of Heaven- We believe that heaven is a literal paradise where the believers of the Lord will spend eternity with God (I Corinthians 2:9; Revelation 21:1-4, 10-27; 22:1-5).

The Place of Hell- We believe that hell is a literal place where those who die still in their sins will spend eternity. We believe hell is a pit of eternal torment in a lake of fire and brimstone where there will be pain and suffering (Psalm 9:17; Matthew 13:42; Revelation 21:8).

The Fallen Angel Lucifer- We believe Satan is the fallen angel Lucifer who was cast from heaven for his pride. He now works as the archenemy of man and God, seeking to lure people from Christ. We believe his eternal destiny is the lake of fire (Isaiah 14:12-15; II Corinthians 4:3-4; Ephesians 6:11-12; Revelation 20:10).

The Holy Spirit- We believe the person of the Holy Spirit is co-equal with God the Father and God the Son. (I John 5:7) His ministry is to regenerate (John 3:3-5), indwell (I Corinthians 6:19), seal (Ephesians 1:13-14; II Corinthians 5:5), fill (Ephesians 5:18), empower (Romans 8:2-4), and guide the believer (Galatians 5:18).

The Privilege- We believe that it is the privilege of believers to rejoice in the testimony of God’s Word, which, however, clearly forbids the use of our Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh (Romans 13:13,14; Galatians 5:13; Titus 2:11-15).

The Church- We believe that the church, which is the body and the espoused Bride of Christ, is the organism made up of all born-again persons of this present age. We believe that the establishment, continuance, and administration of local assemblies of believers (local churches) is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament writings. We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord of the church and Lord of each individual Christian (Acts 14:27; 20:17; 38-40; I Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11; Romans 10:12-13; Acts 2:36; I Corinthians 2:8,12:3).

The Ordinances- We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ left only two ordinances to be observed by the local assembly (local church) in commemoration of His person and work, that is; 1) Baptism by complete immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost, and 2) Partaking of the Lord’s Supper. We believe that no person is qualified to be a participant in either of these two ordinances unless that person has been reborn from above by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41,46-47; 16:33; I Corinthians 11:23-32).

The Witness- We believe it is the responsibility and obligation of the redeemed to witness by their own life and by word of mouth to the truths of Holy Scriptures and seek by all means possible to proclaim the Gospel to all mankind (Romans 12:1-2; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; II Corinthians 5:19-20).

The Second Coming- We believe in the bodily resurrection of all mankind, the redeemed to eternal and everlasting life in the presence of God, the unredeemed to judgment and eternal and everlasting punishment. We believe these will be two distinct resurrections, that is, the first resurrection will be that of believers (I Corinthians 15:23), the second, that of the unbelievers at the end of the thousand year reign of Christ. (Revelation 20:11-15) We believe, in accordance to Holy Scriptures, in the certain return of our Lord Jesus Christ; that His second coming will be in two distinct and separate phases: that is, first, His coming for His espoused Bride, the Church, prior to the beginning of the tribulation, such appearing to be in the clouds and in the air (I Corinthians 15: 51-57; I Thessalonians 4:13-17; 5:9-11; Revelation 3:10; 4:1) and that this appearing constitutes the “Blessed Hope” set before us and for which we should be constantly looking (I Corinthians 15:51-57). And secondly, a literal bodily personal return to set foot upon the earth which will consummate the Tribulation period and commence the thousand year reign of Christ, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords on the earth (Matthew 24:27,30, 44; John 14:1-3; I Thessalonians 1:10; Revelation 19:11-19).

The Gifts of the Spirit- We believe that the supernatural personal gifts of the spirit such as tongues, healing and prophecy were done away with when the Bible was completed. We believe that the spiritual gifts of faith, charity and hope are still abiding and are to be practiced by believers (I Corinthians 13:8-13).

The Judgment- We believe that the saved will appear at the Judgment seat of Christ to be judged for their works (I Corinthians 3:12-15; II Corinthians 5:10) and the unsaved will appear at the Great White Throne Judgment to be judged for their works (Revelation 20:11-15). The two are different in time and kind.

The King James Bible- We accept no version other than the King James Version. We believe that the King James Version of the Holy Bible is the infallible, divinely inspired and preserved Word of God. We believe the Bible is the only authority on all matters of faith and practice. It will be the only translation accepted in the pulpit of Zion Hill Baptist Bible Camp or used by any Counselors or training programs in the camp. It will also be the only one used by camp staff and its officers (Psalm 119: 160; II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21).

The Offices of the church- We believe that there are two ordained offices of the church. They are Pastor and Deacon. They should be filled by men whose qualifications are set forth in the books of I Timothy and Titus.
